Highlights of Medulin, a town with a fishing tradition

Medulin

Highlights of Medulin - an Istrian tourist destination with a rich fishing tradition.

Medulin is a town and a municipality in Istria County, located in the South of the Istrian peninsula, 8 kilometres southeast of Pula. One of the interesting facts about Medulin is that it is one of the most important Istrian tourist destinations, well-known for its rich fishing tradition.

The municipality of Medulin also comprises the towns and villages of Banjole, Vintijan, Pješčana Uvala, Pomer, Vinkuran, Premantura and Valbonaša.

Particularly well-known is the Medulin bay with 11 uninhabited islets distinguished by their intact nature and beaches with pine forests, ideal for a family holiday with young children.

There is a wide range of accommodation options in Medulin, from private accommodation in apartments, houses, and villas, to well-equipped hotels.

Additionally, there are also many auto-camps and a naturist camp Kažela.

The most famous and distinguishing monument in Medulin is its church with two towers in the town's centre, which rises above the area.

If you decide to go on a holiday to Medulin, you can spend time on numerous beaches located in Medulin, Pomer, Pješčana Uvala, Banjole, Premantura, Kamenjak and the nearby islands. There you will find crystal clear sea, numerous coves and capes, as well as beaches surrounded by pine forests - an ideal choice for rest and relaxation.

Thanks to its rich fishing tradition, Medulin can take pride in its varied gastronomic offer, primarily based on fish dishes.  Be sure to try spider crab salad, black risotto or brudet, a traditional fish stew. Here you can also try quality Istrian prosciutto, various truffle specialties, as well as renowned Istrian wines, a highlight of Istria's gastronomic tradition.

Entertainment will surely not lack in Medulin, seeing that various manifestations take place in the town's streets and squares almost every day (concerts, tournaments, folklore evenings, art evenings...), and that various sports activities are offered (walking, cycling, water sports, Windsurfing, Kitesurfing, horseback riding, sailing, golf...).

Another one of Medulin's highlights is the archaeological site of Vižula.

Medulin is a tourist town where every visitor will find something for themselves, from the youngest to the oldest ones.
